We take great responsibility for the animals raised here at Rivendell Meadows.  We only breed and raise animals that we can use here on our farm but we do occasionally offer some of them for sale.  We also work with rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming animals in need on occasion.  So please read the policies below before contacting us about purchase or adoption.  Our priority is for the health and welfare of our animals and finding them only loving forever homes if they are ever offered for sale or adoption.

Sales and Adoption Policies

Here at the Rivendell Meadows our number one priority is to make sure the homes we find for our animals are suitable to both their needs and those of the adopter/buyer.  Throughout the years we have discovered that there are certain requirements that we find make both the adopter/buyer and the animals’ life much better.  Adopting an animal, while it may be a very happy and eventful occasion for a family or a great joy for an individual owner, it is nevertheless a BIG decision that involves a great deal of responsibility.

·         The first and probably most important factor in selecting a new home is that they must have previous livestock experience or be willing to show due intent in learning the necessary skills for livestock husbandry.  The animals are our first priority and need not to go through the often overlooked challenges that first time livestock owner experiences.

·         The second requirement is that you have the appropriate facilities.  The animals need to have access to a shelter and quality fencing in the paddock or pastures.  We do not allow animals to be adopted to homes with inadequate fencing or shelter.  Fencing must prove to be suitable for the chosen livestock. This if for the safety of the animals to keep them contained as well as deter predators.

·         The third requirement is that you have a good working relationship with a veterinarian that treats your chosen species or that you have found a new vet who will perform these services.  A vet reference is required.
