Welcome to Rivendell Meadows Alpacas and Angoras. We are a US Army family who began raising alpacas in 2002. Being an Army wife, I found myself in an awkward situation after having to sell my home and small retail business in 2002 due to a Military move. Already having horses and the need to purchase land and home, I looked for an alternative business that I could move with me. Adding alpacas to the family was the perfect match. With my love for all animals, and already having the space, this was the best decision I could have made. The alpaca business is my project while my husband builds his Military career. My goal is to raise quality huacaya alpacas in a small farm setting with the ability to give each animal personal attention and care. We started with one maiden female and a gelding companion, and have slowly built our herd over the last few years. We love to show our animals when we are able and I've recently taken an interest in dying my own fiber. We also have 5 horses, several dogs both pets and Livestock Guardians, including 2 great Pyrenees and 1 Turkish Kangal, chickens, guineas, barn cats, a spoiled rotten goat who has lived with the alpacas all her life and one very entertaining llama. We have recently added Angora rabbits and Angora goats to the farm. I must say, that we look like a band of Gypsies when it comes to moving time. Everything goes. We enjoy farm visitors and meeting new fiber friends, we usually have fleece, yarn and roving for sale, and the animals are always looking for a fresh handout. So feel free to contact us anytime to schedule a visit. We'd love to hear from you....
